Wedding Traditions Around the world

Customs and traditions vary all around the world. Some are fascinating while others can be quite surprising as well! Whatever it may be, traditions are something that keep us bound to our roots and are important in bringing people together. Weddings are moments of joy where two people in love come together to exchange vows and enter the journey of marriage. Hence wedding traditions can be mind boggling as well. Even the most unconventional couples willingly participate in American wedding traditions, from the bride tossing her bouquet to donning something old, new, borrowed, and blue. (Why risk fate and begin your new marriage with anything but positive energy?) The majority of other nations and cultures also have cherished wedding traditions, thus Americans do not have exclusive ownership of such practices.

Mexico

A figure-eight-shaped "lazo," or lasso, made of rosary beads and flowers is placed around the shoulders of a Mexican couple as they exchange vows during the ceremony. The couple's union is symbolised by "el lazo," and the phrase's shape, which resembles the infinity symbol, also conveys their hopes for the duration of the marriage.

Albania

Do you want to protect your marriage from evil spirits? You shoulder a flatbread made of lavash. Traditionally, newlywed Armenian couples behave in this manner. The bride and groom are traditionally given lavash and honey by the groom's mother when they enter their wedding reception, which is normally held at the groom's home. They consume spoonfuls of honey to represent happiness and balance bread on their shoulders to fend off evil before the party truly gets going.

Morocco

Morocco is a stunning land steeped in culture. No wonder the weddings there are extravagant and opulent too! Despite the fact that most of us are worn out after just one day of wedding festivities, in Morocco, celebrations can go up to seven days. You should plan to take a week off of work if you're attending a Moroccan wedding because there are pre-wedding rituals, preparatory rites, and a sizable wedding day feast.  The bride will take a Hammam day at the start of the wedding week to symbolise the start of a new chapter in her life. The bride-to-be will go to a traditional sauna with her friends and family as part of a purifying rite. Each member of the bridal party will participate in a henna party and receive tattoos on their hands and feet. After they've been treated like royalty, there will be pre-wedding feasts, the wedding, and an after-party with lots of dancing.

Lebanon

Lebanon is a magical place with gorgeous weddings and a fun-loving population. In Lebanon, the wedding celebration, known as the Zaffe, gets off to a boisterous start with music, belly dancing, and yelling provided by the couple's friends, relatives, and, occasionally, professional dancers and musicians at both the groom's and bride's homes. Everyone arrives at the bride's house eventually, and as the pair depart for the wedding, they are showered with blessings and flower petals.

India

An Indian bride's naughty sisters and female relatives steal the groom's shoes on the wedding day in a custom known as "Joota Chupai" and demand money as ransom for their safe return. That is one approach to make things more exciting. Everyone enjoys the wild and entertaining process of finding the jooti. As one side goes on to conceal it, another is attempting to locate the Jhootis.

Peru

You will adore this Peruvian wedding custom if you are a single woman. Similar to the bouquet-throwing custom at weddings practised all around the world. Ribbons dangle from the sides of a typical Peruvian wedding cake. Each ribbon is tied to a cake charm, but one particular ribbon is attached to a ring that looks like a wedding band. Peruvians think that you are next in line to get married if you are given a slice of cake with a wedding ring inside of it.
