Embrace this love story

I first saw Harsh my freshman year when he was performing at a Rutgers South Asian show. He was front and center, and immediately caught my attention, but I had no idea who he was,what his name was, or if I’d ever see him again.

I ran into Harsh on two separate occasionsthroughout the year, but neither encounter translated into anything more than a “hi”. I decided to reach out to Harsh via FB Messenger and asked him for his number, to which we planned our first date,and hundreds more thereafter. Harsh and I tried to hide the relationship from our friends so we proceeded to change the names in our phone to “MP3” and “Squirt” (no it did not work, and yes we still have the samenames saved in our phones till this very day). After countless dates at On The Border, Harsh decided to dragour closest friends and family on a 12 hour, 1,300 mile road trip to the highest point in the East Coast where thesunrise first hits the United States to propose to me. It was one of the happiest moments of my life, and allowedus to move on to the next chapter of our lives. Reflecting back, time really does fly when you’re spending it with the ones you love.

Harsh and I knew that planning a 500+ guest wedding without a planner would be difficult, but we were confident in our abilities to plan the wedding of our dreams ourselves. My focus and ability to plan things, in supplement to Harsh being great with numbers and excel, allowed us to perfectly budget, track, and plan every single aspect of our wedding. We were also extremely fortunate to have an amazing family as well as vendors who, in supplement to whatHarsh and I brought to the table already, were able to execute the wedding of our dreams. There were definitelybumps along the way, but with such a strong support system alongside us, we were set up for success from day one.

Tips: The two biggest “tips” we can provide any upcoming newlyweds planning their wedding would be:Enjoy the moment while it’s happening. Couples will always say their wedding week went by in a flash,and it truly does. Embrace each day/event and try to absorb and enjoy as much as you can.

People will have a million different opinions, but do what you want, and what makes you happy. At the end of the day this is your wedding, and ensure you’re not doing things to please others.
