8 things you should never serve at a wedding

Who doesn't love weddings? The clothes, the lights, the glamour, and the sheer amount of joy are what make weddings such an occasion. But who can forget the food? Food usually plays a major role at a wedding. Surely deciding what to serve and what to skip proves to be a dilemma.Choosing a wedding menu means you'll take seasonality, local produce, and the crowd into consideration. It is often necessary to obtain some professional input. On conversing with numerous wedding planners and chefs, here are a few dishes they'd most likely ban from wedding menus for good. Let us look at 8 things you might want to cross off your list.

Overpowering flavors

Walking into your wedding reception and finding the whole room smelling strongly of food would be unappealing to certain couples. A good way to avoid this from happening is to steer clear of foods containing a lot of garlic, onions, and spices which could be overpowering. Although a lot of Indian cuisine includes a lot of these ingredients, moderation would be the solution to this problem.

Weather sensitive dishes are a big nono

We all love a good slice of cake with indulgent frosting. But on a hot day in an overcrowded room, the delightful cake could turn into a melted disaster as cakes spend quite a lot of time on display.Since cakes are particularly sensitive to temperature, it would be wise to talk to the baker beforehand whilst considering the weather.

Messy food could lead to wardrobe malfunctions

Pasta, sauces, and dips do make our tastebuds dance but they could also lead to spills, stains, and minor inconveniences. So it's best to avoid them and stick to something that wouldn't prove to be such a hassle.

Food that requires a lot of preparation

It is evident that all of us want an extravagant platter served at our wedding, but including dishes that require too much effort and preparations might be problematic. Having each dish intricately crafted for each guest would take time and effort and lead to inconsistency in plating. Dishes such as these should be reserved for intimate weddings with a few guests as it would be less cumbersome.

Raw food, no food

Sushi skinned salmon, runny eggs are trending. But that does not mean that every one of your guests would be willing to have their fill as it could potentially lead to food poisoning. It's better to let the caterers know in advance to avoid any possible issues.Raw food requires expertise and has to be prepared perfectly. Otherwise, it is best to leave it off the menu.

 Minimize the mini

Finger foods are an excellent choice for cocktail hour. Bite-sized sandwiches, mini burgers, tarts are sure to keep the palettes happy. But make sure to serve something substantial for the main course and that everyone has enough to eat. The cardinal rule of any wedding is to make sure the guests have had their fill. With all the dancing and drinking the guests would sure need to fuel up!

 Say no to karela

Except for a few health-conscious people, vegetables hardly find any takers. Especially the bitter gourd, associated with bad childhood memories. So let's steer clear from this humble vegetable as no one would want to eat it, especially on a wedding day.

Simplicity over complexity

It is perfectly acceptable to get creative with your wedding menu. Serving a few exotic dishes is perfectly alright. However, forcing your dietary restrictions on guests or getting too experimental with the menu isn't seen as good etiquette. It is important to have an approachable platter of food the guests are comfortable with and leave out an overly complex assortment of dishes, which are a hassle to prepare and intimidating to try out for the first time.

We definitely  want our wedding to be a special and memorable one. Having said that, it is necessary to have an accurate plan. Especially for something as important as the menu. A never-ending menu could lead to food wastage and an inadequate menu could lead to the opposite. So it is essential to be aware and plan accurately to avoid any inconveniences.
